Room Heater Cost Picker
Cheapest way to heat one room — or just yourself. Honest physics.
A dehumidifier is useful for airborne moisture and drying, but it cannot repair a leaking pipe, rain entry or a wet wall. This enhanced planner starts with the location and timing of the damp, routes obvious red flags towards the right investigation, calculates room-air dew point when you have readings, and only then sizes a machine for the cases that fit condensation.

Condensation tends to appear on windows, cold external corners and poorly aired surfaces, then worsen in winter or after showers, cooking and indoor laundry. A patch that follows rain, a local wet spot beside plumbing, or a persistent low-wall tide mark points away from a simple whole-room humidity problem. The tool treats these as patterns rather than a remote diagnosis and explains what to check first.
When condensation is the likely route, size and temperature still matter. Compressor machines are usually more efficient in heated rooms, while desiccant models retain performance in cold spaces. The optional dew-point calculation shows the surface temperature at which the measured room air can condense, and the cost model makes the energy trade-off visible before you buy.

Condensation favours cold surfaces and follows cold weather or moisture-producing activity. A patch that tracks rain, plumbing use or a persistent low-wall band needs the source investigated. The pattern checker explains the likely route but does not replace a survey.
It is the temperature at which the measured room air can form water on a surface. If the dew point is 11°C, a wall or window at 11°C or colder can condense. The calculation does not measure the actual surface temperature.
No. It can help dry materials after the source is repaired, or temporarily manage moisture while work is arranged, but it cannot correct a pipe, roof, gutter, drainage, ground-level or wall defect.
